한국 공군의 F-4D형은 베트남 전에 한국군이 참전한 대가로 미국에서 그 당시 동아시아에서 최초로 16대를 장비하게 됩니다. 그 이후 베트남에 F-5A를 35대 공여하게 되면서 생긴 전력 공백을 메우기 위해서 옥만호 장군의 노력으로 F-4D가 추가로 18대가 도입되게 되어 현재의 세력을 이루게 됩니다. 이 기체들은 그 당시 별로 쓰이지 않은 사실상 신품 기체를 도입한 것이라서 나중에 중고로 도입한 E형보다 상태가 좋은 경우도 많습니다. 현재 한국 공군은 F-4D와 F-4E형을 93기 보유하고 있고 예비기로 36대를 보관중이라고 알려져 있습니다. F-4D of ROKAF were the first to enter service other than USAF in late 60's. These phantoms were regarded as a "Reward" for Korea participating in Vietnam War. A total of 16 F-4Ds were first delivered in SEA schemes and these were totally new aircraft right from the factory. As South Vietnam needed more F-5s, the US government turned to Korea's newly delivered F-5As. First ROKAF's Air Force commander in Chief Young-bok Ju (A Korean War veteran who flew one of the first ROKAF mustangs) turned this down because he thought it could weaken the nation's air defence. Because of this, as a trade, the US government offered 18 F-4Ds in change of 35 F-5As. There are 93 F-4D & F-4E Phantoms active in service and 36 are stored as resevoir. |

한국 공군 팬텀은 이집트 미채로 도장되어 있습니다. 처음 들어온 기체들은 미군의 SEA 3색 위장이었으나 이후 제공 미채로 변환되면서 이집트 미채를 도입하게 됩니다. 이집트미채로 칠해진 기체는 D형만입니다. F-4Ds in ROKAF are finished in the "Egypt" style grey camouflage. The first examples were finished in SEA scheme but in the 80's they all were repainted to the current scheme. Compared to this, the long nosed "E" features Air-superiority schemes like the F-16 and F-5. This is because most F-4D's primary role is ground attack. |

F-4D형은 기수에 고정 무장이 없는 관계로 한국 공군기들은 동체 중앙에 20mm 건팩을 기본으로 장착합니다. F-4Ds do not have a fixed gun. ROKAF F-4Ds always have this centerline gunpod as a standard arm. |
